Software built by people who've actually run a shop.

The story behind TimberCloud. Who we are, why we're building this, and what we believe about custom-manufacturing software.

You're running a custom shop on software built for somebody else's business — a Shopify store, a job shop, a 50,000-SKU distributor. We grew up in this industry, got tired of watching shops like yours fight that fight, and built the software we wished we always had.

MISSION

Why we exist

Custom shops have been buying around their actual business for two decades. Generic e-comm bolted to generic ERP bolted to generic CRM, either completely disconnected or glued together with somebody's nephew's Zapier wizardry.

We're building the operating system those shops should have had ten years ago: one place to quote, sell, build, ship, and bill, built the way custom work actually moves through a floor, and priced so a $2M shop can run on it without a board meeting.

FOUNDER

Built by a developer raised in a wood shop

Justin Romanos | Founder & CEO

I grew up in my family's custom door shop, Portadoor, in Connecticut. Experienced the floor for nearly three decades before I wrote a single line of code.

I watched my dad pay for, glue together, and personally hold up software stacks that were never going to fit a custom-manufacturing shop. The configurator that didn't know what a stile was. The inventory tool that thought every SKU was the same. The "ERP" with a six-month implementation budget for a $4M shop.

TimberCloud is the system I wanted Portadoor to have. Now Portadoor runs on it, and your shop can, too.

TEAM

Meet the team

Steph Kaufman | Co-founder & CMO

With over a decade in marketing and her own boutique agency, Steph knows how to build brands that grow. At TimberCloud, she's driving full-funnel strategy to bring modern software to an industry that's long overdue for it.

Lee Katsky | Co-founder & COO

Runs operations and implementation. Lee's job is making sure what we promise on a demo is what ships on a Tuesday — and that every shop that goes live on TimberCloud gets supported like they're our only customer.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

What we believe

Software for custom manufacturers should be opinionated about custom manufacturing. Most isn't. Most is a generic e-comm tool with a configurator bolted on, or a generic ERP with a Shopify connector. Neither one knows what a stile is.

AI built in beats AI bolted on. Our AI extracts line items from POs and emails, writes pricing formulas from plain English, and turns catalog PDFs into structured products. It isn't a chatbot in the corner.

We don't get a raise when you grow. Commerce transaction fees run 0–1% depending on plan, so the floor stays low for shops that need a low floor. Every tier above it is flat, forever. If your revenue triples, our invoice doesn't.

You should be live in weeks, not months. Most shops are running on TimberCloud within two weeks of signing. If we can't get you there, we'll tell you on the demo — not three months into an implementation.

WHO WE SERVE

The team is fully remote. Customers across the US and Canada, mostly cabinet, door, and millwork shops in the $1M–$15M range.

If you're one of those shops (or you want to be) we want to hear what you're fighting and what you wish your software did. The roadmap is built out of those conversations, not out of our heads.
